The City of Salzburg

Sightseeing, museums, shopping, and much more

To the City of Salzburg it is only 45 minutes by car. It is a wonderful place to go where sightseeing, shopping, museums and much more is all within easy reach.

Mozart’s city and the city of the famous music festival is rich in cultural attractions. Not for ought was the city centre named a UNESCO world heritage site in 1997. Romantic little streets, Baroque buildings like Salzburg Cathedral, Mirabel Palace or the Residenz, the castle enthroned above the city, and of course the many museums, all worth a visit.

Salzburg throughout the year

Salzburg is always worth a visit, no matter the season. In spring Salzburg’s gardens turn into a sea of flowers, especially the park of Mirabel Palace with the rose hill and the magnificent palace gardens. In summer, the traditional outdoor pubs invite you to stay a while and in autumn, when the early morning dew gives a special quality to the light, the city centre is more romantic than ever.

Sightseeing and shopping

A walk through Salzburg’s famous ‘Getreidegasse’ is an ideal way to shop and see the sights. The old buildings with their passages are home to many fashionable shops and flagship stores. International labels are found side by side with Mozart’s Geburtshaus, the place where Mozart was born. Passed this famous house Nr. 9 you walk on to the old market with its impressive imperial pharmacy. Onwards the famous Café Tomaselli, then straight ahead to the Residenzplatz. Here you have a stunning view of Hohe Salzburg Castle, high above the Residenz and the cathedral.

Salzburg is worth a visit and a nice change from your fitness holiday in Wagrain.
